"This charming film was lifted out of the ordinary by the unique nature of the circumstances it documented and the absorbing stories it told."
THE TELEGRAPH
London Zoo prides itself on being open every day except Christmas Day. The last time it closed for any longer was during the blitz in World War 2 and even then the gates only shut for a week. But with the arrival of coronavirus there was no choice. London Zoo closed with no idea when they might be able to reopen. With no visitors to pay for the 20,000 animals who still needed feeding and care a financial crisis was looming.
This two part series narrated by Stephen Fry began filming just after the zoo closed its gates until they were finally able to reopen. Life may have ground to a halt outside the zoo but inside it had to carry on.
